Once again, I have chosen 2 wonderful patterns for this month’s Infant Complete Dressmaking Kits:
The Geranium Dress by Made By Rae
Parachute Polo Shirt by Oliver and S
With the good news that more restrictions are easing this month and we are allowed to mix a little bit more with friends and family, I decided to focus on a dress and a top that your little one can wear to a party or a picnic. These versatile patterns will become wardrobe staples and you will find yourself making them over and over again as your recipient grows. Both patterns have lovely features that will either build sewing ability or provide you with some interesting techniques that may be new to you. There is no need for an overlocker as both these garments can be made using a regular sewing machine. These complete dressmaking kits contain absolutely everything you need to make each specific garment, from paper pattern right down to a fabric label to finish add the finishing touch to your make.
This Complete Dressmaking Kit is designed to provide you with the ultimate polo shirt for your little one, a versatile top that can be worn to a party or a play date in the park, definitely a wardrobe staple. This is a sewing pattern that you can use time and time again as they grow.
This polo top is sewn with Jersey for the main body and cotton poplin for the collar and button placket. Being constructed with soft jersey means it stretches as your little moves making it super comfortable to wear. The garment can be made entirely on a regular sewing machine, there is no need for an overlocker.
Making this polo shirt will provide you with a perfect opportunity to learn how to do a shirt placket and collar or if you are an experienced sewer, a super quick and fun make.
I have chosen to create this complete dressmaking kit using a wonderful Oeko-tex cotton Jersey which is 95% Premium Cotton and 5% Spandex| 200gsm | 58/60in (147/150cm) Wide. This fabric is fabulous quality and weight, perfect for Spring/Summer/Autumn, soft to touch and breathable, therefore kind to your little one’s skin. For the collar and cotton fabric the kit contains a 100% Cotton Poplin that is 115gsm and 40cm wide.
When washing your fabric for the first time I recommend using cool wash cycle with a colour catcher sheet and detergent, personally I wash all my fabric on its own first.
