Class Description
Our capsule wardrobe classes will run throughout the year on a monthly basis building a wardrobe full of stylish, versatile and practical pieces and at the same time building on your sewing skills and knowledge. You can choose to participate in one or as many of the classes as you wish. This is a great class if you already know a little sewing and a good follow on from our Know Your Sewing Machine course (attendance of this course is not compulsory in order to do this class). So long as you can use a machine you will enjoy this workshop. In this class we will be sewing The Sheath Dress by The Avid Seamstress. This versatile dress is easy to wear and a joy to sew. The Sheath Dress is a classic shape with a contemporary edge. With a rounded neckline, grown on sleeves and subtle shaping, this has all the makings of a modern classic. Adapt the design to suit your style by adding a sash belt or an elasticated waist, in seam or patch pockets, and your choice of fastening; button and loop closure or simply pull on. We have chosen this wonderful dress pattern as a foundation piece to build a stylish yet practical capsule wardrobe throughout the year. Preparation for this class: As this is a one day sewing class we ask that those participating in this workshop to cut out their paper pattern and fabric to their size before class. To measure yourself correctly either pop into the shop before your class or refer to our measurement guide which can be found in our blog post. Materials Included in this price of this class: The Avid Seamstress Sheath Dress Pattern – this will be sent out to you 2 weeks before the class. Materials needed: Fabric, lightweight interfacing, elastic, button and matching thread – for correct amounts please refer to the back on your pattern. We do sell fabric, thread and haberdasher in our shop but you will need to purchase this prior to the class in order to have your fabric prepared prior to class. We have sewing machines for you to use but if you would like to bring your own please advise us at the time of booking. Refreshments – Tea, coffee and delicious cake are included in your lesson, but for this lesson you will also need to bring a pack lunch.
