Class Description
Join local pattern designer Hanri, from Sewillow Patterns, for a fun and interactive sewing class that will teach you how to create a custom pair of house slippers. In this class, you will learn step by step how to cut, and sew a comfortable and stylish pair of slippers that you can wear around your home or give as a thoughtful gift. Hanri will guide you through the process, sharing her expert tips and tricks along the way. This class is perfect for advanced beginners who are already familiar with using their sewing machines and are looking to expand their skills. So come join us to make something practical and beautiful. Skills Covered: • Marking of fabric and cutting • Sewing multiple layers of fabric • Sewing and turning out neat curves • Understitching Materials needed: • 1/4 metre - Medium Weight Woven Fabric for the Exterior (Denim, Canvas, Twill, Linen or Wool Blends) - and old pair of denims works great for upcycling. • 1/2 metre - A soft light to medium weight fabric such as flannel, fleece or quilting cotton for the inner lining • 1/4 metre - Non-slip fabric such as grippy dot fabric for the soles • 1/2 metre - Low to medium loft Quilt Wadding • Matching thread for the exterior and lining fabrics. Materials Included in the price of the class: • Sewillow Slipper Pattern • 1/4 metre - Non-slip fabric such as grippy dot fabric for the soles We have sewing machines for you to use but if you would like to bring your own please advise us at the time of booking. Refreshments – Tea, coffee and delicious cake are included in your lesson but please bring a packed lunch.
